Diamond Media PC Centre care about the environment and is committed to continuous improvement to reduce, re-use, recycle and create sustainable solutions:
Transport
We use public transport wherever possible.
Wherever possible, public transport will be used to attend meetings.
Wherever possible, we will use car share to travel to and from clients, home and to work.
Energy
We conserve energy wherever possible.
All electricity sourced from 100% renewable sources.
Computer systems will be set to save as much energy as possible
Appliances and computers are turned off when not in use.
Rechargeable batteries are used for all battery-powered appliances.
Offices are double-glazed throughout, and doors and windows closed except when ventilation is required.
Waste minimisation and recycling
Recycle Technology
We are teaming up with companies that offer computer and electrical goods recycling programs.
Old computer systems are made up off plastics and metals that can be recycled
We have a "Minimal replacement strategy", whereby we extend the life of all computers, using old machines for our test bay, servers, or stripping them for spares.
We reduce, re-use and recycle waste.
Recycle waste - paper, cardboard, plastics, glass, tin, aluminium, IT and electrical equipment.
Return printer cartridges to suppliers for re-use and support charity toner appeals.
Donate any redundant IT equipment to charities for re-use.
Reduce printing and paper waste through monitoring systems.
Re-use printed paper for internal work.
Minimise paper use by storing information digitally rather than paper files.
Use 100% recycled paper for printing and stationary products where possible.
We investigate the environmental performance of our suppliers, and wherever financially viable give preference to suppliers with the least environmental impact.
General
We also:
Provide fair trade tea and coffee to staff and use environmentally friendly cleaning products.
Ensure all employees know and understand the policy and what is expected of them.
Comply with environmental legislation, regulations and government guidance.
Constantly seek to improve our environmental performance through monitoring systems, target setting, annual reports and policy reviews.
Have an Environmental Officer to oversee this.
